struth – this is what I use – it fits when the lid closes and can easily stretch and be used by passenger if needed whilst I am driving – I think you are right it just gets very warm – I also understand when it is hard wired the charging pad is disconnected – tho it would be easy enough to turn phone over – hope this helps you for tidier look whilst using CarPlay ?
