@kezo Mate, I think the Tories reckon they will lose the next election. It is about their time and turn to do so. Thus they will put in any old lumpen clod who will get the blame when they do get kicked out. Fishi Rishi even stands a chance. They can then gather themselves and try to find a SuperBoris to take the helm and have a go when Labour or a Coalition has had its turn.
