It’s one of the biggest/tallest platforms available on the scheme currently – at 1.66cm it tops the Ateca by 5cm, the new Sportage by 3cm, the 5008 by 2cm

I was always told size matters??

Well. That’s usually just if the size isn’t adequate, otherwise there’s no need to mention it. 😛

I know the Kodiak/Tarrraco is the larger version, one of my neighbours has one, I really didn’t notice much difference when sitting in it compared to the Ateca (apart from the extra seating).

The Kodiaq has much more headroom. If you’re built like me (long legs), that would explain why it’d feel similar. I haven’t sat in the Kodiaq, but i did sit in the Tiguan and it’s noticeably higher.

I’m not a brand snob, I liked my two Yeti’s very much but the Karoq and Kodiak just didn’t feel the same as the Ateca/Tiguan I’ve driven.

I didn’t assume so, would be weird anyway since Skoda is considered a very solid brand – positioned above SEAT in fact. Doesn’t help much, the facelifted models still use the same awful MIB2 infotainment (similar to what we both have, except touch sensitive buttons instead of actual ones next to the screen), only VeeDabbeljuhs get to use MIB3 for now (Golf 8, MY23/24 Tiguan etc).

Ideally I’d like another diesel, there are no Kodiak diesels on the scheme and the petrol start at £3,500 so well outside my price range!!.

That’s going to be an issue in the near future, i very much doubt that you get a Diesel cheaper than petrol variants, especially “big” SUVs. Maybe the Dacia Bigster or what it was called if/when it comes to the scheme, but other than that.. Keep in mind that our Ateca X-Lux was £3799 (iirc, definitely more than twice what i paid, £1800, i remember thinking that that’s insane) when it left the scheme.

Crossland and C5 Aircross are available as Diesels, at reasonable prices (spec’d accordingly of course), but neither would scratch my itch. The reason for the Ateca back then, apart from the full kit, was the fact that it drives much sportier than it has any right to – the Crossland doesn’t, and the C5 Aircross is the actual antithesis of the Ateca, deliberately avoiding even the smallest hint of sportiness. But, it’s also probably the most comfortable car on the scheme, so different strokes and stuff.
