@POPS A splendid time is guaranteed for all… (might features in the karaoke?). BBQ a brilliant exercise in this weather. My day was lifted considerably by a “Merlin symphony” this afternoon. One of the “trips-round-the-bay” Spitfires crossed overhead heading back to the Goodwood base. Climbing upwind in a fairly serious manner so the Merlin was just singing beautifully. Music in the sky the makes you want to reach up and touch! The wind continued to bring back the more bass-notes from the engine for a good few minutes. Even some 20 miles away, the deep modulation was just so stirring.

I have a fascination with the battle of Britain memorial flights  and love watching them when they come to the Swansea airshow fly over our house as its normally in the flight path . I think it stems from both my Grandad and Grandma’s brother both who flew the Spitfire and Lancaster during the war. Sadly no longer with us but my Grandad did make it home after the war and I have very fond memories of the story’s he use to tell. I always remember as a child fireworks use to haunt my Grandad and he would sit there with his eyes closed with tears in his eyes.
