I have a test drive booked for this coming Monday, for the 308 PHEV 225BHP GT LINE. How much did you have to pay for home charger install? or was it a full EV ?

Hi Joss, mine is a 1.2 petrol. I didn’t go for the PHEV. The full electric version isn’t out until 2023. Right now you only have petrol, diesel and PHEV options.

I went to the dealership with the full intention of ordering the PHEV, but the Peugeot representative talked me out of it.

PHEVs are great for the right people, but if you don’t have a driveway in your home (we do, but the spot is taken by the owner!) of course you can’t have the charger crossing the pavement, so that limits your options solely to charging at a public network, which for a PHEV takes some time. Only for 30ish miles. During winter even less.

The increased cost of the PHEV (an extra thousand pounds Advance Payment), plus the inconvenience of not being able to charge at home, plus the rising electricity costs (still cheaper that petrol, but no longer the bargain EVs were a couple years  ago), plus the added weight and finally my driving habits (I often do long journeys) and the PHEV just didn’t make sense to me. Perhaps for 5+ years, but not for 3 years.

But of course to the right people the PHEV can be brilliant. Especially if you have your own home charger and do shorter journeys.

Otherwise, the car is really impressive to drive. Steering is nice and light and is comfortable.
