Spaces in private car parks are a concession not a right.
The owners of the property make the spaces available in the hope other drivers will abide by the rules.
Getting annoyed about it only affects yourself and is pretty pointless.
I sometimes park in mother and toddler bays and have no qualms about doing so. Yes it’s nice for them to have space to get babies out of the car but I don’t agree these bays need to be close to the shop. I park in those if they present a better space than available disabled bays.
Some companies employ private firms to enforce car park rules. Please don’t listen to those who think you automatically get off for being disabled or for not using your blue badge as you simply don’t.
Those making those comments clearly have no understanding of contractual law.
Yes it’s not a fine it’s a civil debt but if you don’t want to end up in court then follow the rules of the car park your in.
I’m a retired cop and I’m also highly experienced in civil law. I’ve had to fight 2 cases recently and neither allowed some “automatic” cancellation due to disability or use of blue badge.
I was laughing at the comments saying police wouldn’t be interested about criminal damage. Police are obligated to record and investigate a crime under the ‘national crime recording standards’.
Whilst the story of the electric bike flying down the street was interesting I would ask how can police take action with no evidence of who did it.
Invariably car parks have a lot more CCTV to aide an investigation and most users enter in a vehicle which can be identified.
You’d be amazed how many people are stupid enough to key cars and assault people regardless of that so it isn’t a silly concern.
At the end of the day you shouldn’t be getting annoyed as although it would be nice to get the space it’s not a right.
You shouldn’t be approaching people as it’s none of your business where other people park. I’ve dealt with cases as a cop when some self righteous person has approached someone and ended up getting into a physical altercation and both parties have ended up on charges.
It’s easier to put a smile on your face and think your lucky to find a space.
