I have always been a bit wary about coming back to the car and finding that it has been keyed!
You “misparking” (potentially for a good reason) and a criminal offense are two different things. If someone’s dense enough to key a car that’s observed by plenty of CCTV, i mean.. I don’t mind. I’ll call the police, they’ll get the tapes and with that, the person responsible, and you press charges. As i said, we parked in those spaces before as well, it is what it is.
You might not mind, but I certainly would. Being without our car for a repair would be a pain. CCTV doesn’t cover every inch of a car park in enough clarity to see absolutely everything and the Police wouldn’t be remotely interested in something like that on private property as it would be a civil matter. Besides, they have far more important issues to deal with!
