Just remembered that the 308 PHEV does have the option for fast(er) charging. For £300 (iirc), you can get a 7.4kw charging board, as opposed to the standard 3.7kw board.
Still not perfect, of course – but more manageable. According to smarthomecharge, a full charge with the 7.4kw board is just under 2 hours. At which point, it might become interesting for us (7kw charging is free at all major supermarkets) – assuming half an hour to an hour shopping, that’s 7-15 free miles.
Not enough to make it feasible without option to charge at home though, i’d think. Just thought i point that out.
