I stuck a magnet on the back of my phone to mount it on a small holder i bought, since then it’s never charged wirelessly. Now we use spotify alot when on a journey and have no issues at all with the phone plugged in. So i do think it’s something if i did have i wouldn’t miss.

You’re essentially saying that even in his car you’d still plug your phone in for no reason? In his car, you just need to put your phone in the tray to run spotify and charge. No cables connected.
That’s why this is stupid. He went from “chucking phone on the pad” to “faffing about with a cable to run the still wireless android auto because the wireless charging pad got removed”.
You need to plug your phone in either way (like us in the Ateca), he didn’t.
