I live close to Gridserve’s electric forecourt in Braintree. It’s 39pkW.
One of the positives they listed for the development was that the whole thing was green – you might have thought they were suggesting the solar panels on-site were providing all the electricity the forecourt needed for charging.
Now – I know there’s an initial outlay for them to recover – but I don’t see their prices being competitive. They’ll charge above domestic electricity rates for the purposes of recovering their set-up costs and also for the benefit of offering fast-charging.
Given how quickly domestic energy prices have increased and how far they’re expected to increase again in October, I’ve pretty much decided that electric vehicles are a big gamble right now.
