Some speculation between car buyers and motoring journos is ICE cars are being loaded with higher prices so EV become, as it were or dare I say, cheaper.
Add that to inflationary prices its easy to hide behind political BS that EV will be cheaper than ICE in a couple of years time where the truth is that ICE will simply be more expensive than EV’s but EV will be expensive too but not as much as ICE.
The only thing I can see Motability has in it’s favour over the next two years is, and I hate to say it, is the possibility of a World recession caused by inflation (I’ve already stopped buying Weetabix due to cost ????) and because once food and energy becomes unaffordable cars will be the last thing on peoples minds.
Motability has the advantage in a shrinking market to do better deals on AP’s however that of course puts us back in the Daily Fail firing line because we will see those old lines on the front pages as to why disabled folk can afford new cars when the rest of the country goes down the pan.
Remember the DM front page anti-disability / Motability hate war began after the 2008 crash that left everyone wondering how long is the money going to last.
Hope I’m wrong and we get normal services restored soon but having starting my family in the early seventies I remember those “give us a job” days very well.
