I was a carer for my wife for many years, although it only gave me an extra ten quid as the other benefit was reduced as your not allowed to benefit much from your benefit… They asked me to give up work and look after her, which a did, but never mentioned the drawback.
if i had just said no, it would have cost them thousands a month, but i wasn’t allowed the 35 quid extra. I was supposed to get an afternoon off caring every week but only got it after i became ill myself, saving them another load of cash for 16 years or so.
Not that i begrudged my wife any of the financial issues and would do it again, but the govt needs to have some people who actually care in the dwp instead of people like Coffe, who hates all benefit claiments and disabled in particular..
