The Focus Active has around 30mm (2″) ride height increase and chunkier tyres than the standard model.
Having had both a standard hatch and an Active, there is a noticeable difference in ride & handling between the two. It’s definitely not an SUV though if that’s what you need. There is a ‘Trail Mode’ setting which might help you drive through a slightly muddy farm track…
The seating position is already high as standard in the Focus (much higher than a Golf) so with that 30mm increase as well, it might still be worth a try for you.
The Fiesta Active has a slightly smaller height increase, but oddly they’ve fitted very low profile tyres to them, removing any sort of mild off road capability they might have gained from the extra ground clearance.
Also worth noting the Puma fits somewhere between the two, and also has a high seating position for what it is.
If you have any more Ford related questions, I’m happy to answer them. Sadly, don’t have any experience with the Countryman to make a direct comparison though!
