Not going to go into the details of your case, but this here:
(PS I should say Motability did offer an ‘early termination’ at a fee of £250 however this seems crazy for the sake of two months).
Seems wrong. Not just that, since you haven’t mentioned it, it appears the support guy didn’t explain that entirely to you either.
First of all: my wife and i were in the same boat, and did just that. Our lease was due to end in may this year. Last november, we called Motability for something else but came to speak about our current car, a SEAT Ateca. We explained that it’s really not comfortable etc pp, and got offered an early termination.
Our early termination fee (for around 7ish month early termination) was £50. Fifty.
Not just that, the early termination fee gets refunded to you if you keep your current car until the point of where your lease originally would’ve ended. Meaning, we get our £50 back if we wait longer than may on our new vehicle (which we sadly will), because at that point, we did keep the SEAT for the full contract length.
I’d call them again, hope for another representative, and ask again.
