I agree with you. The R-Line makes no sense at all now. It used to be the top of the range with a price premium over the SEL. Now the Elegance is, I believe, very slightly more expensive than the R-Line, so they are effectively now joint top of the range – one with all the kit and the other with the trim embellishments.
