    so ive cancelled the appointment with dealer services as no point in going with no fault to show.

    That was a mistake in my opinion.

    Just because it doesn’t do it right at that moment, doesn’t mean the problem fixed itself. More importantly, they still would see the fault in the diagnostics, the car saves faults for the mechanic to read out (even if the actual fault disappears, the log entry remains).

    If you’d have gone to the appointment, one of two things would’ve happened. Either the mechanic would’ve told you that the car does not show a fault, in which case you know that either a button was pressed, dirt on the sensor etc – or the car does show the fault, and they’ll fix it. Hell, it probably would even show whether or not it was dirt on the sensor that caused it (obstruction).

    You still should get it checked out, if it’s an actual problem with the car it’s not going to fix itself, it’ll come back.
