I think it’s a scam too. It happens with a lot of things doesn’t it. I’ve had conversations with family members where they’ve said things like “why has my car insurance gone up so much” and I’ve said it will only go up that much if you don’t do anything about it.
I agree that it’s just a tactic they use in the hope that you just pay it.
There will be plenty of reasons why people don’t act on it but I really feel for anyone who doesn’t feel up to it, or isn’t comfortable dealing with call centres etc as they might end up stuck paying over the top for something when that money could be better spent somewhere else
