Whatever Motability says, Gary, in practice, what I said stands. A dealer could only succeed in charging a cancellation fee if he could prove he had incurred a loss. As there’s more profit selling a car to a retail customer than to Motability, it’s not likely to happen.
I’m not advocating ordering a car thinking there’s no commitment, but in practice, if circumstances dictate a need to cancel, there’s no need for Javert to worry his wife would be penalised.
