I’m not a great fan of lease extensions, as it’s a nice earner for Motability and not a very good deal for the customer, but if you like your current X1, a lease extension could be worth considering. You’d still be stuck with your current fuel consumption, but you wouldn’t be paying any AP (for now) so overall this could be the cheapest option for you. Unless you are a high mileage driver, spending thousands to get a new car that achieves say 10mpg better economy will take some considerable time to recoup that AP through fuel savings, if indeed you ever do.
