<p style=”text-align: left;”>Thanks to both of you!</p>
Rox, I’d absolutely have gone for a Mk7 Match Edition with a manual 2.0 TDI 150 if that had still been available on MB.
Even used it’s an extremely rare spec though, only seen about 3 on Autotrader in the last 6 months. I currently own a Mk6 Match 2.0 TDI with the independent rear suspension and 16″ alloys so trying to find something that rides the same as, or even better than, that. I’ve tried a new Focus, Focus Active (raised suspension) and a previous shape Leon that were all too rough riding and always ended up back in the Golf. Did try a Mk8 Style very briefly but was too unwell to test it properly and on a very limited time scale. A 48 hour test would have helped but not available with VW.
Due to multiple issues I haven’t been able to drive or travel at all for the last 6 months. I’m hoping a new suitable car will allow me to start again slowly over weeks/months, but does mean that I can’t test-drive beforehand and am essentially buying blind, with only online reviews to go by currently. I know it’s not an ideal situation.
Glad to hear you’re getting on well with the Civic though I must admit they’re a bit big for me since they’ve turned into a saloon.
I’ll need to have any car collected & delivered for any servicing or recalls so the dealer proximity is something to consider. I’m not sure how many dealers will offer that service though the nearest Seat and VW are only a mile apart here.
AP’s are huge on most things now, even the basic Golf Life is £3k which isn’t worth it!
