Not Motability related but when we were expecting our first child I made the decision to get the biggest transport system on sale, a hybrid system as comfortable off road as it was in a shopping centre, it cost a fortune and would grow with my child, pram, pushchair, you get the idea. Anyway when we got it home and assembled the beast, it would not fit in the VW Golf, so I did what came naturally and went car shopping. I guess sometimes taking a step back and looking from different angles is advised. I loved that Golf, replaced it with an A class Mercedes that had windows that would drop on their own accord, particularly on rainy days.
Jumping in both feet first !
I was tempted by a new Volvo XC70 top of the range, all the kit for £11 a month extra on my monthly payment – my Mondeo Ghia X V6 was due for renewal, so jumped in both feet first, and it was great.
Then circumstances changed and I needed 7 seats, fairly regularly, so for an extra £100+ a month I thought a new XC90 was the way forward, company car (only new no used allowed) – £1340 per annum for 3 years = £ 4020 extra.
Then my mate asked ‘ can you still get the extra seats for the Volvo estate?
Pulled back from that jump, checked and yup, £800 fitted inc belts , rear door opener , fold flat rear facing , lease co. Approved – the kids loved them.
Sold via Volvo forum 2+ years later for £250 , so £ 550 cost against £ 4020
