Another thing is that you are comparing a further 2 year lease extension with going private on a new car and not a 3+ year old car (which is what you’re paying for on your extension), easy enough if you have the funds to beat the scheme on a used vehicle, I have done just that 4 months ago and got a vehicle that was never on the scheme because it was too high a spec to make it on the scheme. Hi Vinalspin. In my example I was comparing buying a new private car versus a new Motability car. However, like you, I consider 2 year lease extensions to be unwise if you have the means to go private. An outlay of well over £6k to effective very run a second hand car for 2 years, only to hand it back at the end, isn’t what I consider to be good value for money, so I’m not surprised to hear that you did what you did.
