It’s “master bate” that you were thinking of there.
But the video is clickbait. 😉
That being said, there are many misconceptions and outright stupidity around EVs. In fact, only three weeks ago, my father in law asked me what the point of a PHEV in winter is. Confused by that, of course i asked what he means:
“Well i wouldn’t want to drive a car without heating in winter”. Some people have so little concept of EVs/PHEVs, they actually assume that without an ICE, there’s no heating.
And i’m not making that up, as ridiculous as that (at least to me) sounds. He genuinely thought that our Golf GTE, when driving electric, doesn’t have heating. And that the ID3 that we were going for prior, just flat out is always cold, because as we know, a normal car needs a hot engine/cooling system to heat.
When i asked how he thinks heated seats work, well.. He grasped the concept then. In fairness, he’s a engineer for diesel trains, so i guess there’s some kind of inherent bias – but in regards to the video, don’t assume that because we can get around an EV, that everyone can. Regardless of how easy it is. Remember, there’s videos on youtube explaining how to hold a spoon. Unironically.
