Tough little chaps are crab apples, Got bucket loads of fruit from a neighbour last year and made a pile of crab apple jelly. Keep the sugar content low and give it a good squirt of fresh lime juice and you get a unique flavour and sharp sauce for any white meat. Also good with a strong cheddar. Last year’s batch still perfectly OK so no need to do it again now. Shame. Lovely messy process.
