All I do is take the Govt figures from here https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/
Today’s stats say that 836 died in last seven days giving an annual death rate of 43,472. All data from govt source; no wonky figures from conspiracy.com or whatever.
The figure concerns me not only because of its size but because we never seem to hear the annual figure in the meeja. If we were to learn, for example, that deaths in road accidents increased by a factor of 24, then there would be a public outcry. Yes, I know a global pandemic is a whole different scale of disaster. Nonetheless 40,000 deaths is a huge figure which we are now seeming to accept as the norm.
