Range by litre makes much more sense. Or consumption per 100 miles in litres.

We’re selling the stuff in litres, all this does is obfuscating the real price you’ve got to pay, because basically everyone i talked to argued that his car requires “around a tenner or so” for 100 miles. It requires a few steps to get to an accurate number, where in other european countries it’s “this many litres for 100km”. Not “this many litres times this amount to get to a gallon for a varying amount of miles”.

Take a pre-set distance, be it 60 miles, 100 miles or whatever, and tell me how many litres the car uses (on average) for that distance. I’ll add 10% for good measure, and know what to expect at the pump.

Before people say it: our current car is better on economy as advertised (46mpg in summer, currently around 40), so not everyone makes their numbers up.

In the end, as a last resort:

If you can’t skate, you can pull a cart too. You could even go on the motorway, speed-wise. Clocked mine at 63mph.
