The rules are changing in April next year making it much easier to get a kerb side charger fitted. If you can park your car off street you will not qualify for the grant.
Yes you read that correct if you have off street parking you will NOT qualify for the grant.
Im not sure about Motability’s rules but I think I’m correct in saying they will only fit a charger at the motability customers home.
I’m not sure about this either but I don’t think your son would qualify for the grant if he decided to pay for one himself as the rules about ev ownership to qualify for the grant are strict.
The only light at the end of the tunnel for you are the changes coming in from April 1st next year that should make it easier for you to apply for and obtain an off street charger at your home.
Motability still don’t know how these changes will affect them going forward. Hopefully they can still continue supplying chargers both off street and on, but this is still to be decided. If they don’t you could apply for the grant yourself but that could leave you with additional expense.
