I actually have had mostly positive experiences.
Other than some people here, i also think that it’s kinda stupendous to suggest that manufacturers should ignore profits – especially in times where profits already took a huge hit – to serve a scheme that basically only exists in the UK.
What’s the point, you gonna go to the factory and tell the workers that they have to fear losing their jobs because you had to get your car a little bit quicker?
And no, it absolutely won’t backfire on them, what on earth would make you think that? They’re annoying/ignoring Fleet customers. They reduced fleet operations in times where they need to make money, so i don’t understand the logic behind the threat that “fleet operators will remember” – yeah, let them. It’s much more damaging financially to ignore/annoy private customers, which potentially stick with the brand for decades. Motability customers won’t, because they’re reliant on manufacturers offering cars in the first place – and will take a better offer in a heartbeat. You’re not building brand loyalty through fleet operations.
What they’re doing is smart and the correct decision. Am i happy about that? Absolutely not, of course not. But i also understand that if car manufacturers don’t make profit, they’ll cut costs. And that starts with jobs/factories. I’d rather have my neighbour keep his job and be able to sleep at night, than having to wait a few weeks less on my delivery.
Now, dealerships.. Yeah i’ve read about stinkers. Inexcusable. That being said: i’ve yet to find an actual bad one. We’ve been through a few, and while the attitude slightly changed in some salesmen after mentioning Motability, all still remained professional and friendly at the very least, albeit not as warm and “try-harding” as before. Which i can live with, professionalism and not being rude is all i ask for.
That’s just me though. I just don’t understand the entitlement, especially if you can fix that problem by buying a car privately. And if you don’t have that option, complaining that the advantages we enjoy through the scheme come with a few drawbacks is.. i just don’t get it.
