Blimey Paul, that’s horrendous. The more stories like this I read the more I struggle to understand why run-flat tyres aren’t used by all manufacturers as standard. Drivers with run-flats never have to stop for a puncture and can always drive home, getting the puncture repaired at their convenience whilst still using the car in the meantime. Brilliant for all drivers but especially for disabled drivers or passengers for whom getting stranded at the roadside, even for short periods, can be extremely dangerous.
