It definitely isn’t.
I drive a VAG DCT, and it’s smooth as butter. Don’t know what the guy was driving, maybe a tractor or something.
Sidenote, “smashing a gear in” will end up considerably more expensive than wearing a clutch out, so that doesn’t even make sense.
