Further to my post above, I would strongly advise anyone who has ordered one of these cars but has yet to receive a VW order tracker number (which works on the VW website and confirms that the order has definitely been placed) calls their VW dealer tomorrow morning. By this time tomorrow it may be too late. I’d also probably do the same if I’d ordered a car from any other manufacturers in the VW stable (Seat, Skoda etc) as I suppose that there’s a risk that they may follow suit.
