We’d go for the GLA Premium Plus, if it were available – the interior (to us) is just awesome. With the lower spec model, you leave too much on the table – no matrix LED lights, no sunroof, no optional extras etc.. Sadly not for us as we do want a panoramic roof.
Currently the Tiguan Elegance 1.5 DSG (with added Harman Kadon soundsystem, 360 camera and the bigger sat nav optional) is our #1 on the shortlist.
It’s also super easy to get in and out of for my wife since the doors open wide, and the seats are pretty high (as in, you don’t fall into them like in a saloon). And great spec, as mentioned, with matrix LEDs, sunroof etc all baked in already. And we know the engine/gearbox combo too (Ateca uses same engine/gearbox), so we know what to expect in regards to economy.
Only “downside” to the Tiguan is that it doesn’t have leather (which we currently have and especially in this weather are just awful without seat ventilation, constantly glued to the seat) – not a downside to us, i’m over leather now, but, you know.
