Not convinced that rapid chargers in local authority car parks is the ideal, but we’ll take anything we can get in Wales at the moment.

Swarco (eVolt) has some chargers in England and is taking over Charge Place Scotland’s chargers from BP CYC later this month.

I’m rather hoping that it’ll be possible to use the same Swarco RFID card in all of them as well as the contactless (debit or credit card), the reason being that in places with a poor signal these chargers can be difficult to use with apps or contactless (yes, the charger itself often relies on a mobile connection too) but they should work with the RFID card.

My experience of Swarco rapids runs to a single 50kW rapid charger which didn’t work the first time I visited it (power fault, the whole unit was completely dead), but worked very well a couple of weeks later on my next visit.
