I have a 1.2 manual Allure Premium. I have three children between 6 and 12. I also have a 34kg guide dog. So I don’t do the driving but I pick the cars as the wife has no interest or knowledge of cars. We recently went away for half term, the car was reasonably loaded up and it was no issue at 70mph on the motorway.
We used to have a 1.4tsi Touran which had more power and torque but also weighed around 150kg more so when it comes to power to weight ratio they are near identical.
Fuel consumption can be high but depends on annual mileage. We do around 5k so wouldn’t consider a diesel.
Whatcar rates the 1.2 as there pick of the range. There are lots of good youtube reviews to check out.
