When I had a visit to my Mitsubishi dealer 3 years ago to check out the boot and scooter space with my then Pride scooter that was 39” long would not fit, not fully assembled anyway and my current scooter is 41” long so would be an even a bigger no no. The sales guy recommended I went for the standard petrol or diesel versions but looking at there MPG numbers made me cry. The only option is to go for the fold away type scooters to be sure of a good fit in the PHEW but then these type of scooters will fit in almost any type of car but are expensive to buy and feel a bit flimsy for my liking. Only way to be sure is do what I do and visit the dealer with a tape measure.

That strange ChrisK Did you physically try the GO Go scooter in the boot or just take measurements, my GoGo goes in easily.

Unfortunately I’m unable to lift a fully assembled pavement scooter into the boot of a car so everything has to be done with a tape measure. My current car’s boot length is 38” so my Pride Elite Go Go Traveller (4 wheel version) requires two of the 30 30 30 tilt and fold split seats to be forward 1” with the scooter fully assembled including the captain chair and now with my current scooter, Pride Apex Rapid with all round suspension requires the two seats to be forward by 3” again fully assembled but with the captains chair taken off because it’s a little bit higher but the car remains a usable 5 seat car. Out of interest what the measurement from the back door to the back seats if you don’t mind me asking. At the time I was unsure of the clearances need for the scooter and hoist having not used one before and with the raised floor was advise by the dealer my scooter would not fit but at that time the PHEW was flying off the shelves so maybe the dealer was trying to put me off. The petrol and diesel version are the same length as the PHEW but the ICE version have independent tilt and slide where the PHEW doesn’t unless they changed that because I believe the PHEW had a facelift since I enquired about the car.

Chris my boot measures 39″ depth and 39″ in width between the wheel arches, but it is about 45″ at the widest point. We load my Drive Nitro walker upright right up against the rear seats with a strap, the parcel shelf has two different location point, we remove the battery and we load the GoGo in the boot and refit the battery . I am quite lucky I always have the wife to help.

Oh and the rear seats can tilt

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
