There seems to be a similar pest having a go at mine too. The non-sheltered ones are looking very poorly but there’s still a chance. My air-con is really just a set of windows which, when opened in the right sequence to take advantage of the wind direction, can give a nice cooling breeze. Dead lucky that we have the right windows! House is a 1950s chalet-type thing when they didn’t design in stuff like that. Previous pad was a Victorian monster and this type of “air-con” was built in from the beginning. Loads of windows, large and small, all opening: front door, for example, had a surround of four panes which were like a thermostat depending on which you opened.
