Ha I’m in the same boat as you! Don’t think the car is going to be big enough. The leg room in the rear for two teenagers is the problem for me, I also have long legs, that and a dog as well. Ive stayed away(from a test drive) as I know what I’m like! Style over substance and would regret it. I’m in a compromised position as I suv’s don’t suit my disability(seats to high). I’m tempted to come off motability for the first time since 1989.And buy myself a 3 or 4 year old 5 series bmw. We shall see
You won’t go wrong with a 5 Series Paul. I’ve driven literally hundreds of cars from the vast majority of manufacturers and the 5 Series is the closest to perfection that I have experienced. The only downside is that, like all rear wheel drive cars, they are hopeless in the snow. I’ve had 3 of them, a 525i, 530d and a 520d and the one I would recommend most is actually the 520d. It’s got all the power you ever need and can still return high 40’s mpg even when driven ‘keenly’. I had saloons but if I was getting another I would get the Touring. I’ve driven a number of them and they handle just as well but have the extra versatility. I bought a 520d new in 2015 and sold it early last year and it was still like a brand new car. Sold it to a retired fireman who contacted me a a few months later to say how delighted he was with it!
