I’ve found it useful to explain before handover that you will need 20 minutes with the car before entering the pin. Tell the salesperson to go off and relax, you’ll give them a shout when you’re done. No stress of anyone lurching over you and feeling pressured to going quickly. Anything you spot can be agreed to being repaired/rectified at a later date and you can still enter the pin, but this way you don’t run the risk of being left with a problem you notice the next day and having a hard time getting it proven it was there before.
The way some dealerships run through pre delivery inspection is shocking and I’ve often noticed marks on the paint or a scuffed alloy that can be easily missed by a customer at the time. Take the 20 minutes is my best advice.
