    Part of the problem the average person does not under how BHP is calculator

    BHP = Torque x RPM/5252, but it just does not end there, it is all about the torque below the power curve, to simplify it, there are motor cycle engine that can produce over 200 bhp, these engines do not have very high torque output, the BHP produced very high up the power curve.

    The majority of diesel engine produce there maximum torque lower down the power curve than the equivalent size petrol engine.

    EV are something different maximum torque is virtually linear and instantaneous, to date I have not driven a full EV, but those who have explained ‘you have to drive one to believe it’, I do however drive a PHEV and yes the torque is instantaneous, I can pull away from a standing start towing a 1500kg caravan and not feel it on the back.

    Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
