I personally have not got a dashcam and have never had one. But living in a rural area you see a lot of nutters putting their lives at risk and more importantly other people’s lives at risk. There have been many occasions that I would like to have reported theses idiots and would have no qualms about submitting dashcam footage. This is not to punish people but more to have someone in authority show them the error of their ways. More often than not theses idiots rely on sensible motorists reacting to their recklessness to prevent accidents. There is plenty of evidence to show that many innocent peoples lives have been lost in accidents that they did not cause and were powerless to prevent.
I am sure that reckless drivers adjust how they are driving when they see a police car because they know what they are doing is wrong and dangerous. With the proliferation of dashcam footage being submitted to the police hopefully more drivers will think twice about breaking the law and make the roads safer for everybody. Think I might have a trip to Halfords.
