    There again renewables generated just over 40% of the UKs electricity in 2020 and the trend is on an upward trajectory. As Brydo pointed out even the big oil companies like Shell have realised that the future for fossils of whatever kind are numbered.

    I’m sure most sensible folk will fervently hope that the cost of producing renewable energy continues to reduce. The latest reports to the UK Government show that by 2025 Solar and Onshore wind power will undercut the price of gas by 50%. In 2013 it was estimated that the cost of Solar and Onshore wind generated electricity for 2025 would be £140/MWh. Those figures due to advances in technology have been revised down to £57/MWh.

    Those figures come from BEIS a government department, and have been peer reviewed.
