As long as all the additional costs of more expensive cars are covered through the AP, then I see no reason whatsoever why there needs to be a price cap, or at least one at the level that we have.

What about the more expensive servicing/insurance costs? A car costing £50,000 is a lot more to insure and to service (generally)

With a block insurance policy covering many hundreds of thousands of cars, having a relatively tiny number of higher value cars would make no difference, but what I am advocating is that ALL additional costs (whether that be insurance, servicing, depreciation) is covered by the AP of that car. That way, those wanting a more expensive car can have one, as long as they are prepared to pay for it, but it doesn’t make a jot of difference to those who are happy with a much cheaper car.  It really is incredibly straightforward as it just uses the same calculations as with all other AP’s and is done by every leasing company – except Motability! The irony is that Motability used to do it up to around 10 years ago, but sadly stopped it due to a highly inaccurate press article in the Daily Mail which Motability did nothing to challenge. Instead they panicked and made a knee jerk reaction, hence where we are today!
