@Glos Guy you are missing an important point, you cannot get a a Focus ST 190 Estate on the scheme, opening up the scheme to cars that are less than 12 months old means such cars as that would be available. Reason i brought this up,is because of ever increasing new car prices and the big leaps in AP’s for desireable cars, not everyone can afford them. @Crispy you have some good points.
Yep, I get that, but my point is that there is no logical reason why a Focus ST 190 Estate couldn’t be on the scheme, with an appropriate AP that covers the costs and Motability Operations would be able to buy a new one of those at a massive discount. Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you that the addition of second hand cars would be welcomed by many, but Motability Operations make quite a bit of profit on each new car lease and I think it’s unlikely that they will change their business model. I do however think that an obvious ‘win win’ would be to make cars that are returned early for whatever reason available at reduced AP’s. They must lose a fortune on those by sending them off to auction when others would happily take them, especially with the long lead times on many new car orders these days.
