Yup, Mitch. Religious or no, our carols simply have the most wonderful tunes. Many are in 3/4 time and probably have origins way back as simple festive dances. About the King’s “In the Bleak…”, well, they used Holst’s tune but the arrangement was rubbish. So slow that you couldn’t actually HEAR the tune. Drowned everything out with over-loud organ anyway.
The counter-tenor was marvellous, though!
