Hi Georgie
As ever, thanks so much for your concern and kind thoughts. She was due to come out tomorrow. But now likely to be Thursday. Nurses again! You won’t believe this but they have put her in “solitary” or isolation because of a symptom which might be construed as food poisoning but which definitely is a result of her condition and the operation. She saw a proper doc around lunchtime and he, too, was astonished that they had done this. He took up the subject with them and they won! How nurses can overrule a doctor on a clinical matter I do not understand. Will write to her consultant because I really think there is some malicious intent here – she had the nerve to suggest that she would like her medicines to be those prescribed by doctors rather than the others which nurses “think would be better”. Would prefer to phone but would like a written record and you can’t get through to the surgeon “Mister” gods.
I am really concerned for her safety and well-being. The isolation she is under should involve being in a special sealed single-bed room. Nurses will not allow , so she is confined to a 8′ x 8′ tent around her bed. Not allowed to leave, not even to go to the lavatory. Forcing her to use bedpans. Will not tell her when isolation is due to end; most of them will not even answer her questions. I despair!
If there has been no further progress by midday tomorrow will have to plan something more decisive, which may involve turning up with a blanket and wheelchair and breaking her out of solitary.
