Lets not forget that we do of course pay a toll through our tax on fuel. The more miles you drive, the more tax you pay. Surely that has to be the fairest way.
That’s how I see a GPS type system working i.e. by the mile but the worst thing is I also see in this way of charging they would be able to charge by the street, a bit like the congestion charges in some cities now, but this time you could be charged 20p plus your per mile charge for driving down a street lined with rich folks million pound houses while it would be free to drive down a street where we working class bums houses are. ?
That is just an example but take another example of dropping your kids of at school on the way to work, driving within a half mile of a school, that will be 50p thank you very much, oh, and another 50p when you pick them up.
Now you know why they’ve been closing down all the local schools and building gigantic ones 3 miles down the road. Loads of money.?
Driving within a mile of a football stadium on a Saturday, that will be £5 plus your per mile rate thank you very much the list goes on and may seem like a joke but this is how it could easily be.?
