    Had to start using auto’s when clutch leg refused to operate properly. Missed changing gear. As others say here, it’s a part of knowing and being in touch with machine. However, the dishwasher syndrome (above) took over and started to see the logic of letting a machine do a job for you AND free up more of your attention for watching the road. Moreover, don’t have to take hands off wheel to fiddle with sticks.

    Latest car has flappy paddles. Tried using ’em. Sadly, found it boring, distracting and generally not good. Mini’s auto box software makes better job of it.
