Hi Chris Sorry i saw your reply just now i agree, with the SE Family you lose out on some decent extras which you get with the SEL and the SEL is £100 cheaper too! from £899 (SEL) to £1499 (R-LINE) you get 18″ Alloys and the usual R-Line cosmetic kits. It would be different if the engines were different, but they are all the same in the Touran 1.5tsi Range. This is why i opted for the SEL with DSG, adds another £200 but to me thats ok for me, il be driving the car for next 3 years so want it to be a relaxing 3 year drive. the SE model i test drove had a few optional extras, like electric tailgate, i did ask if that was standard but the salesman said it was extra. I notice it has the tyre pressure sensor too where it shows the exact tyre pressure for each tyre. Brochure says this is extra. As you say the “standard” spec could change, i guess id have to wait and see.
Hi Antec Your reference to the “tyre monitor” brought back horrid memories of my previous car, the Golf Match fitted with the standard tyre monitor, that gave countless false alarms. I did mention about this on a VW owners forum but very few had had the same problem but it was really annoying on the motorway going on holiday and you have to come off the motorway to find it to be a false alarm but seems I just had a car with a faulty sensor and shouldn’t be a problem in future if and when I return to the VW stable. I also brought this up with Motability after they had an article in the Lifestyles mag about how wonderful this system was for disabled folk. After making my comments about not being as wonderful as they may think they suggested contacting the dealer to have the system turned off but I never did as the car was due to be returned but over the 3 years I had about 10 to 15 false alarms at very inconvenient times. The electric tail lift is a £365 extra on the Touran and while it would be an option that would help me I don’t think its one I would pay for even if it is a reasonable price, same goes for the individualize tyre monitoring that comes in at £170 extra but would hope my next VW didn’t suffer that flaw I had.
Hi, thanks for the message, seems you’ve had a bad ordeal with the TPS system!
i just found it off that for the base spec model Touran, for it to have individual tyre sensor, hence why im thinking it could be standard.
Weve got auto tailgate in our current C4 and it is nice but as you said not worth paying extra for. I think thats why we never went for the Touran 3 years ago as the c4 grand Picasso had a very decent spec for not much AP. this time around the c4 grand Picasso has a quite a high AP so hence why going for the Touran.
