I was reading an article yesterday about the CEO of Vauxhall and his view of things regarding new cars.

He said dealers are having a boom time at the moment because people were recently let out of lockdown & could go to a dealership & buy a new car. Fair enough. He said the motor industry prepares a few months ahead – meaning car dealers are already busy looking ahead to the new registrations in March 2021.

However, he said it is very much a case of ‘famine & feast’ (his words). Whilst dealers are currently enjoying a ‘feast’ with a high number of new cars being ordered/sold, there is a massive famine on the horizon – i.e., January/February onwards. I am due to order a new car this quarter – but anyone ordering the 1st or especially the 2nd quarter of next year will, in all likelihood, be quids in!
