Just had a quick look at the VW comparison for this model as it’s a model I follow very closely and would say that the SE Family version is a great big no, no unless you really do love sun-roofs. You lose so much over the SEL or R that there’s too many thing to list here. One thing I’ve noticed having revisited the VW configuration is that the Touran SEL has lost it’s run flat tyres and gained one of those terrible tyre kits. Apart from the tyre kit I’ve found the standard headlights on the Golf, so assuming the same for the Touran, to be naff and the upgrade expensive but with the tyre kit being added, if indeed it has, it marks the Touran down a little bit for me but still the best deal I can see for my needs but will be giving the Seat range a closer look come next July but more than likely be keeping with the Touran despite those tiny niggles. Just one other thing ? I noticed a pop-up while using the configuration for the Touran saying something about the specs for the engines may differ from August 20 due to emission changes so another one to keep an eye on, anyone know what those changes maybe with regards to the performance of the Touran?

    Hi Chris

Sorry i saw your reply just now

i agree, with the SE Family you lose out on some decent extras which you get with the SEL and the SEL is £100 cheaper too!

from £899 (SEL) to £1499 (R-LINE) you get 18″ Alloys and the usual R-Line cosmetic kits. It would be different if the engines were different, but they are all the same in the Touran 1.5tsi Range.

This is why i opted for the SEL with DSG, adds another £200 but to me thats ok for me, il be driving the car for next 3 years so want it to be a relaxing 3 year drive.

the SE model i test drove had a few optional extras, like electric tailgate, i did ask if that was standard but the salesman said it was extra. I notice it has the tyre pressure sensor too where it shows the exact tyre pressure for each tyre. Brochure says this is extra.

As you say the “standard” spec could change, i guess id have to wait and see.
